We are so excited to welcome Richard Piatt (he/him/his) to the MenAlive family.
Richard brings with him his experiences in higher education, theater, and music. He is the former Director of the Rogers Center for the Arts at Merrimack College where he was also a member of the theater faculty. He has directed and designed for the stage on a regular basis for the last twenty years, most recently for Theater Unleashed at the 2021 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Musically, he has sung in multiple choirs in a variety of styles since his youth, and was privileged to have conducted liturgical choirs both at Merrimack and in London, England. He recently relocated to Southern California from the east coast and is thrilled to join us.
“I am excited to be joining an organization with such a rich history and promising future,” said Piatt. “The next few years will see MenAlive engaging with new audiences in new ventures that challenge and entertain as we continue to serve the communities in Orange County and beyond.”
When Piatt assumes the role on January 1st, he will manage all day-to-day operations for the chorus including overseeing the remainder of our 20th Anniversary Season featuring Andrew Lippa’s New Musical UNBREAKABLE on April 2, 2022 at Meng Concert Hall in the Clayes Performing Arts Center at California State University Fullerton, and season finalé THIS IS WE: POP WITH PURPOSE on July 16, 2022 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Piatt will also represent the chorus at the Orange County Choral Consortium and will also lead fundraising programs, as well as expanding community engagement initiatives.
Be sure to check back for a future blog post where we catch up with Richard to learn more about him.
