When you join MenAlive - Orange County Gay Men’s Chorus you are doing more than just becoming part of a choral group - you are part of a family. OCGMC strives to provide a welcoming atmosphere where anyone will find opportunities for musical excellence, high-quality performances, camaraderie, support, and lifelong friends.
INFO NIGHT
Looking to sing with OCGMC? Join MenAlive for our upcoming Info Night on Sunday, August 13, 2023, starting at 7:00 p.m. We’ll tell you everything about our group and what is needed to sing, volunteer, and so much more. For more details, sign up through the website.
AUDITIONS
Info Night also includes open auditions that are informal and relaxed. The audition process is very simple, private, and takes about five minutes. The Artistic Director will get to know you and your musical background and choral experience. If this will be your first choral experience, that’s fantastic as well. You’ll be asked to match notes with the piano and sing a few bars of a simple song of your choosing like Amazing Grace, My Country Tis of Thee, or even Happy Birthday. This is simply to understand your range and where to place you within the chorus.
Outside of Info Night, open auditions are held after our regular rehearsals on Tuesdays, August 15, 22, and 29 that start at 7:00 p.m. These auditions follow the same format as the Info Night auditions and are also relaxed and informal and take about 5-10 minutes.
If you are interested in singing with the Chorus or if you have further questions, please contact us toll-free at 1-866-MEN-ALIVE (636-2548), or email our Chorus Manager (membership @ ocgmc.org).
NON-SINGING OPPORTUNITIES
You can become a part of the OCGMC family even if you don’t sing. We have a multitude of volunteer opportunities with the chorus and throughout the year. For more details, visit our HeartsAlive volunteer page.
