MenAlive: Stage Manager

Background:

Founded in 2001, MenAlive - Orange County Gay Men's Chorus is a non-profit organization committed to its mission - "that through music, men's voices unite to entertain, inform, bring healing, joy, friendship all while building bridges with the community at large". It accomplishes that mission through a series of choral concerts for the public and community outreach.

POSITION AVAILABLE:

MenAlive is seeking a volunteer to assist our stage team as the Stage Manager for our concert at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. The stage manager facilitates communication between the stage crew, production and performers, as well as ensuring safety. The stage manager often leads support with complex set changes, quick changes offstage, or preparing the stage for performance. 

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE:

  • Overseeing the entire show each time it is performed

  • Assist in managing stage crew for all performances

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Attend all rehearsals during production week

  • Attend production meetings

  • Assist with oversight of set construction

  • Coordinating the work of the stage crew

  • Assist with set changes

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong organizational skills

  • A basic understanding of all the technical components of a production: lights, sound, props, and set changes

EXPECTED COMMITMENT:

Stage Manager is a volunteer position and commitment typically aligns to a concert. Rehearsals during production week are Tuesday-Saturday. Production meetings occur bi-weekly in the months leading up the the concert.
